Dan Ober on Leaving ChillSet: "It's Just Something I Gotta Do."

Sad news in the ChillSet world: After a few weeks of discussion with the band, Dan has decided that it's time to move on from ChillSet.
Ober is leaving the band for beautiful Los Angeles, where he will be starting his new job as a (lowly-but-loveable) sound engineer and designer for indie and major motion picture studios. “It’s something I’ve always had a passion for. I love ChillSet, I love the ChillFans, I want to thank everyone for an incredible three year run, but this is something I gotta do. ”

Dan Ober joined the band in the summer of 2008. Before being a full time member, Ober would appear from time to time in shows, most notably at Tennessee BBQ in Milford, MA. “This is a sad day for the band,” says longtime ChillFan and former manager Aaron Fleishman. “The day Dan became a member of ChillSet I knew this band could do some great things. I’ve always described Dan as the backbone of ChillSet, he demanded perfection and he knew how to get it out of Scott and Justin.”
ChillSet has no immediate plans replace Ober, but concedes it's something that has to be addressed down the road. “We’re not really focused on that right now. We’ve got a great schedule coming up that Dan will be there for and so we are really just trying to focus on that,” Says Justin Jones of ChillSet. “Obviously it’s a sad day, we love Dan, he’ll always be a part of ChillSet no matter where he goes.”
Dan Ober’s last show is this Friday at The Point in Fanuel Hall. So if you get a chance, stop by and enjoy some quality Dan one last time.
The Point in Boston, 147 Hanover Street; Show starts at 9:30
